CENTER PARCS APPEAL AGAINST REFUSAL OF PLANS FOR 5TH HOLIDAY VILLAGE IN MILLBROOK

On 9th December 2004, Center Parcs announced its intention to apply for planning permission for a 5th holiday village in the U.K., to be located in Waren Wood, Millbrook. Representatives of Center Parcs, including their Director of Development and Engineering, Don Camileri, attended our January Parish Meeting on 14th January 2005 in the Village Hall. The meeting was well attended and Mr. Camileri and his colleagues fielded questions from those present. High on the list of concerns was the amount of traffic likely to be generated by the holiday village. For more details, see the notes of the meeting.

On June 24th 2005,Outline plans were submitted by Centre Parcs to Mid Beds District Council. After many months, permission was refused at a meeting of the Mid Beds Development Control Committee on 17th May 2006. Center Parcs appealed against the decision and a Public Inquiry was held in March 2007. We are awaiting the Inspector's recommendations.

A507 Millbrook Roundabout - latest news

Nothing will be decided by the County Council until such time as the outcome of the Center Parcs' planning appeal is known. If the decision of Mid Beds District Council to refuse the application is overturned, then we can expect the roundabout to be built within 18 months. If the District Council's decision is upheld we will need to go back to the County Council because they will need to find the funds to build the roundabout.
